HONOLULU – The Hawaiian Islands Invitational will host two soccer clinics, on Saturday, Feb. 18, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., at the Waipio Soccer Complex, and on Tuesday, Feb. 21, from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m., at Aloha Stadium. Both clinics are free to the public.
The Hawaiian Islands Invitational Clinic, presented by Chevron, will be held on Feb. 18 at Field 12 of the Waipio Soccer Complex. Participants will learn the fundamentals of the game of soccer while having a chance to interact with member of the University of Hawai‘i Rainbow Wahine soccer team. There will also be inflatable soccer fields and speed shot power testing.
The Don Quijote Professional Soccer Clinic, presented by Kraft Foods, will be held on Feb. 21 at Aloha Stadium, for soccer players ages 5-14. Participants are asked to enter through Gate 4, which will open at 4:30 p.m. Participants will be able to partake in soccer interactive learning stations, which will be manned by US and Foreign National Licensed coaches. There will also be professionals from the four participating Hawaiian Island Invitational teams teaching the fundamentals of the game, and will have inflatable soccer fields and speed shot power testing.
Participating professionals include defenders Kosuke Kimura and Scott Palguta, forward Andre Akpan and midfielder Kohei Yamada, along with youth coordinator Brian Crookham from the Colorado Rapids, midfielder Alon Blumgart and defender Charles King from the Melbourne Heart, and midfielder Kim Ikhyun and defender Lee Wongyu from Busan I’Park. Players from Yokohama are to be determined.
All participants should bring a soccer ball, shinguards and a water bottle, all which should clearly be labeled with the participant’s name.
